We are pleased to present a new series of articles drawn from the 1906 publication Men of the Times: Old Colonists of the Cape Colony and Orange River Colony, originally published by The Transvaal Publishing Company and printed by Eyre and Spottiswoode, His Majesty's Printers. This remarkable volume captures the lives and legacies of nearly 200 pioneering individuals who played a formative role in the development of the Orange River Colony. To enrich and contextualize these historical profiles, additional research has been conducted by Cornel Viljoen, offering fresh insights into the contributions and personal histories of these early settlers. This series will be continuously expanded over the coming year, shedding new light on the people who helped shape a pivotal chapter in Southern African history.
